This year, I had the pleasure of celebrating my second birthday in Spain, and this time, the festivities were doubled because my sister’s birthday is just a day before mine! For one glorious day each year, I get to embrace the role of the older sibling.
We kicked off the celebration by picking her up from the airport on Saturday morning and whisking her away to our cozy B&B. After a quick drop-off of her things at home, we took my wife to work before diving into an adventure in Valencia. The city was alive with energy, and we spent the day uncovering its hidden gems, indulging in delightful treats, and soaking up the vibrant atmosphere.
Sunday was all about relaxation. My sister was still recuperating from her flight, so we savored a leisurely breakfast of fluffy pancakes. When my wife headed off to work, we decided to hit the beach to soak in the sun and enjoy the soft waves. It was pure joy! Later, we made our way to Port Saplaya, the charming little spot where we first settled when we moved here—a nostalgic trip that brought back wonderful memories.
On Monday, we planned a special day to celebrate my birthday at Javea beach, thanks to my wife’s day off. The weather was simply perfect at a balmy 24 degrees, creating the ideal backdrop for a carefree day by the sea. We had to keep an eye on the clock to make sure we returned by 5 p.m. to pick up the little guy from school, but we still savored every moment of fun and laughter at home afterward.
Our time together flew by, and before we knew it, the next day had arrived, marking the bittersweet end of my sister’s vacation. Taking her back to the airport was tough, especially for the little guy, who had formed a sweet bond with her during her visit. His tears on the way back to school tugged at my heartstrings.
I truly hope she can visit again soon for a longer stay! There were so many adventures I had planned that we simply ran out of time for this trip, but that just leaves us with even more to look forward to next time.
Hasta luego, mis amigos! Can't wait for our next reunion!
