We’ve been dreaming about this for what feels like forever! My wife and I have always harbored a longing to pack up our lives and venture into the unknown—preferably in another country.
Over the years, we’ve dabbled in the idea, diving into the beauty of various destinations as potential new homes. Japan and Indonesia both captivated our imaginations. Surprisingly, we’ve overlooked some incredible places right under our noses! Italy made our shortlist, but after our second visit, we realized it just didn't sing to our souls. And the Czech Republic? Let’s just say the frigid winters and the challenge of mastering the language threw a wrench in our plans.
With determination driving us, we searched for a location that offered a minimal time difference—I still want to keep my job, after all. Sadly, this meant crossing Portugal off our list, which was a tough call.
Then, out of the blue, my wife dropped a brilliant idea: Belgium! It sounded promising, but I couldn't shake off my concerns about the tricky road conditions and the headache of juggling multiple cars.
Just when I thought we were at a standstill, I tossed Spain into the conversation. As soon as those words escaped my lips, my wife’s face lit up like a kid on Christmas morning. “Yes!” she exclaimed, and just like that, our hearts settled on the sun-kissed shores of Spain. The exact location? Well, that remains a delightful little secret I can't wait to share with you!
